I have just got this Genius MousePen pointer
It works allright as a mouse (just one glitch), but cant get it to work with the presure levels.
My PC specs are
Genius MousePen Tablet for usb, 5x4 inches
Fedora Core 1 (That is, XFree86-4.3.0-42 )
custom compiled kernel 2.6
XF86Config has this:
Section "ServerLayout"
....
InputDevice "DevInputMice" "SendCoreEvents" #"AlwaysCore"
EndSection
.....
Section "InputDevice"
# If the normal CorePointer mouse is not a USB mouse then
# this input device can be used in AlwaysCore mode to let you
# also use USB mice at the same time.
Identifier "DevInputMice"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse1"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection
It works allright when I have loaded the usb uhci modules before starting X, else it doesnt works. Else, off course, X doesnt detects it and it wont work unless I load the module and restart X.
The glitches I have are that the pen buttons are 1 and 3, and when the pen touches the tablet it generates a middle button (2), but if I apply more pressure, then its button 1.
I am not sure if there is any X driver/protocol for this device?
I have googl'ed for it and found some patches for X, but it is not possible for me to get sources-patch-recompile X as Im on a slow connection (56k). so havent tried it .ç
It also has patches for a 2.4 kernel, which might not be needed on 2.6 kernel, but Im not wuite sure.
So what I would want is this pen sending button 1 when the pen touches the tablet, and button 2 and 3 with the buttons of the pen, but I think it would disrupt the mouse (the tablet comes with a mouse too) which is working ok.
Then try and get it working with The Gimp.
So has anybody had any experience with this?
I have some experience programming, but only have two books on X so im not sure as if I could help writing an X driver for this if there is currently no one, where should I go?
Thank you, and Happy 1994.
