x server
im trying to update the drivers for my gforce 6200
ive tried using
system>administration>hardwaredrivers but that failed to connect every time. (the gfx is no longer present in hardware drivers since i did someone elses suggestion but i still cant change resolution higher then 1280 x 768 or change visual efftes from none - normal ect)
i also tried installing it through the terminal but i have to disable x server so i tried this:
sudo /ect/init.d/gdm stop
which ok brings me to the virtual terminal and hangs so i press ctrl+alt+f1 > logged in > then tried a multitude of commands from there:
sh nvidia-linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run
sh /home/me/document/nvidia-linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run
sh home/me/document/nvidia-linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run
and
nvidia-linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run
/home/me/document/nvidia-linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run
home/me/document/nvidia-linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run
when entering the commands with sh it tells me sh: cannot open ...
when entering the commands without sh it tells me directory or file doesnt exist
im also getting a dxdiahn.dll error (after installing wine and dx 9 ect ect) which tells me the said dll is out of date
also is there any way of getting a windows control panel or device manager equilivant or checking setting through the terminal?
im running ubuntu 8.04
