winmodem not working

hi
i have a lucent winmodem that i am trying to setup in redhat
i found some drivers and stuff, and i ran scanmodem (came with the drivers to check if the modem would work) and it said that the modem should work fine under linux

i then installed all the drivers and everything, and it said the modem should work now, but it still doesnt recognize the modem

i tried going into "hardware browser", but it just opens a second and autocloses

i then tried some internet config thing, where it said it could not find a modem

if anyone has any suggestions and/or ideas on what is up with my hardware browser, they would be greatly appreciated
thanks

I had many fights but in the end I came across
ltmodem-8.26a9.tar.gz. This did the trick for me. You will need the kerbel source to compile it but you will not need to compile the kernel.

you then have to use setserial to configure it. I can't remember the exact command (got rid of my LT modem a year and a half ago) but I have it written down at home. I'll check it for ya.

As for a hardware browser, try lspci -v
