Why don't I get my full screen on my monitor. I am missing about 1/4 of the picture

I am using a HP ProDisplay P22 monitor and the driver shows a non discript video driver. I think the problem is the driver since there is only a "vanilla" dirver. The other question is after/ if I get a video driver for it how do I load it into the OS?

According to the HP support page for the monitor any driver should be in the Linux kernel.
Can you make any changes in the display settings in your desktop controls?

Have you tried adjusting the picture with the monitor's built in controls? One of them is labelled "image control."

I don't have an HP, but, if it's like the two different monitors I have, the control buttons are likely along the bottom of the case and not readily visible.

Monitors don't need drivers. Graphics processors do. You haven't told us anything about your PC hardware, or your choice of OS, so how can we be expected to help? Try providing here, using code tags, input/output from inxi -bazG. That should give us a start. Take a look at this primer while waiting on responses.

Broken monitor. Test it on another device to be sure.

Try pressing the 'Auto' adjust button, this should centre & adjust to the monitors defaault resolution.
