which is the usb device name

Hi,

could someone please help me to find what would be the device name to access a usb port... I assume it would be something in the lines of tty???? under /dev. In particular here is the entry from lsusb that I am interested in:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 9710:7715 MosChip Semiconductor Printer cable

Also I a running ubuntu 6.06 kernel 2.6.15-28-386, if it helps.

Thanks.

A USB-parallel port adapter device ID is /dev/usb/lp0 for the first device AFAIK.
Look at the output of the console command dmesg to see if the device is being recognized as such.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply,

there is no usb directory under /dev and neither any device id with lp . I looked on dmesg but nothing that would reveal the usb-parallel/serial (it's dual actually) adapter.... anything that I could throw in grep to look in particular? Thanks.

After some more investigating you probably have to download the drivers for your deivce and recompile the kernel.
