I am fairly experienced in Linux but I have an issues that I don't even know how to google.(I have spent quite a lot of time trying too)

I have different distros on a couple of my machines and I have had a distro on my main desktop before. Now however, when I try to install one on my desktop, it gives me a weird screen issue. The image is the same with every distro except the two colors are similar to the main colors of that distro's splash screen. I think it is related to the kernel, but I can't be for sure.

I have attempted with many different distros and kernels but with all besides Ubuntu, Extix, and Gentoo, I get the same weird screen.

I do plan to install Gentoo soon, but since I was hoping to do the LFS project, I would like to uncover why this is happening so it doesn't when I get to that point in my LFS.

My specs are as follows:
Nvidia 750a chipset
240 GS W/512 GDDR5
AMD Phenom X4 9850
4 GB DDR2 800
4 Hard Drives of various makes
2 DVD/CD-RW drives
VIA VT6421 Raid Controller

I also don't think it's related to the extra drives or the raid controller since it happens without them as well.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just by the sound of it, if it's happening over different distros, it sounds more like a hardware issue, rather than a kernel issue. All the distros will have different kernel numbers, and most wont be a vanila kernel, they will be patch and compiled differently. Maybe a problem with the onboard graphics card not working with vesa or vga drivers in the kernel.

I accidentally posted this in two different places. Turns out though, the ones that have the distros that have the NVIDIA driver preinstalled are the ones that work out of the box. I just have to run the text install and prevent it from starting X server before I can install the driver. Thanks for the reply though.
