Weird DVD Problem while reading contents

Hello, Ive been having this issue ever since I decided to backup my files from a 120gb WD drive so that I will format the drive to a linux partition and put all the files back in.
I have a NEC DVD burner, which has always worked fine. I burned all of the files ( thats what it showed me at least ) and then partitioned the drive and bla bla were onto the point where some times while I transfer files from the dvd to the drive it says it cant access this file etc, and it gives me options of cancel, skip and autoskip. This happens SOME times. Some other times i cannot read the content of almost any cd at all. Also, I got this issue where after having it working all right with the file copying and all, while im on dvd 20 for example, i see that directories are missing or some other obscure stuff like this : I have the songs of an artist into dir A ( theyre burned that way as well ) and the songs from the other artist into the dir B. After Ive copied many dvds with apparently no problems, I see within the contents of the dvd ( there should be ONLY dirs and no files in the main cd dir - only in the artists directories ) some songs of artist A and all of the subdirs of dir A straight within the main dvd directory. I know this sounds/is confusing and sorry for the inconvenience but Ive been trying to fix this with reboots, mounts/unmounts, for as long as I have my linux box up and running and I must add im getting royally pissed cos of it. I burned them with K3b, I also am 10000% sure I burned many other directories that I cant see even while I dont have all these aforementioned problems ( I only was able to see them once and I dont even know how that happened ).Im just getting tired of it Im pretty new to linux and that is mainly my last problem, I pretty much found my way around everything else that appeared.

I want to get this fixed cos I want to first of all be able to listen to some music and have my files back to my drive, and then share them to my server for ppl that want them, as theyre too many and I cant afford to download without uploading.

Thanks a lot for reading this and sorry if it was long. I really wanna avoid asking weird things, but I searched in the forum and I didnt find any answers to this. ( so far, Im still searching ).

Ill paste here the fstab line for my dvdr, Im using Mandrake 10.1 official, I dont know what kernel is it exactly as Im pretty much a n000b, any other info that would help u help me Ill be willing to post

Thanks in advance

this is the fstab :
/dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec,users 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
