I have a xitel storm platinum, and have tried using the drivers from vortex of sound, and i get alot of errors, installing the ones from sourceforge i get this error

anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? its driving me nuts

I had to use the drivers from CVS , to get the sound to work in red hat 7.2

A couple of things... run "lsmod" and be sure the module "soundcore" is currently loaded. If not do "modprobe soundcore" and then try to load your soundcard.

#2 There's a good chance the sound card is already supported by RedHat. Do "sndconfig" and follow the prompts...

A common problem is a sound card not working after reboot and requiring some manual module loading to get it going. Here's my /etc/modules.conf:

alias eth0 sis900
alias sound-slot-0 cmpci
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
alias usb-controller usb-ohci

Need to make sure there are entries for your soundcard there. Probably will be put there automatically via sndconfig though...
