VMware External USB Wifi Adapter

Ok, ive done extensive research on this topic. and all the answers dont pertain to my problem. I am running a backtrack5 guest OS threw VMware on a windows 7 x64 host.

now on my desktop computer i can connect my TP-LINK USB wireless adapter card into the backtrack5 VMware it detects and functions no problem. without having to go through the host machine.

But when i try to use this same USB wireless card on my laptop running the exact same specs. It will detect the card under removable devices, but the device simply wont function at all. scan wifi hosts etc. (THIS IS AN EXTERNAL USB DEVICE NOT AN ONBOARD WIFI CARD. I AM AWARE THAT WILL NOT WORK).

So my question is why will this work with absolutely no problems on my desktop but my laptop it fails miserably?

thoughts?

Welcome.

My thought is to stop using backtrack.

Get a different distro. Please read the web page of backtrack. What does it say?

I do pentesting for a living... so why you tell me to get rid of backtrack and talk down to me.. im not too sure. I guess the "newbie" tag maybe.. either way this is more a VMWare based question rather than a backtrack one.

But thanks for your bullshit response that proves you have some serious self-esteem issues. and you get the majority of your confidence from an internet forum.

Cheers,

Being so well trained you could easily use data at your disposal to find the answer.

I am confident only because I can answer the question.
