video card stuck in wrong mode
A little introduction... I have a Radeon 7500 All in Wonder video card (AGP). I had everything working fine (dri and tvout). I didnt actually use any application to use the tv out. All I had to do was plug in the TV, reboot, and the card would automatically switch to tv out mode. In tv out mode, both, the tv and the monitor would get signal. However, the resolution would be much smaller, as well as the vertical and horizontal sync. My monitor can barely handle it. If I wanted to boot into X, I would have to use the vesa driver, as the radeon driver would give me an erro which is pretty much irrevlevant now.
anyway, i stopped bothering with X and all I did was boot into console, use mplayer in console, watch my movie, and then reboot (without TV plugged in) so my card does not activate tv out. After that, everything would go fine, and I would be able to boot into X using my radeon driver with high resolution.
Well... all the good times are finished. My card is stuck in TV out mode. It does not matter if I boot with the tv cable connected or not, the card is always outputiing to the tv (RCA cable by the way). You can autopmatically see the difference when you boot, even from the BIOS check output, or the boot logo, way before the kernel is loaded.
I tried taking the card to my friend's and connected it to a winXP machine. Disabled tvout on it but same deal showed when I connected it to my machine again.
I tried an application known as atitvout and it showed that my tv, s-video, and a crt were connected, when in fact they are not. I tried to reset what is active from that application, using different commands it provides, still no success after booting.
I have looked all over the card for any sort of reset jumpers, but I didnt find any. Anyone have any idea how I may reset this card??
By the way, I don' t think it is very relevant, but I am using gentoo. Also, I have tested a different video card and i t worked fine, so it is no problem with the motherboard.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give you an account of what I have done, so we don' t repeat things...
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
