using i915 with modeset=1 AND keeping 80x25 console?

Could I use the i915 module with modeset=1 (allowing intel xorg driver to load) AND keep the console in 80x25?
Alternatively, how do I set the console in graphics mode (in my case, 1024x768) to the 80x25 char matrix?

As soon as I load the i915 module with modeset=1 (set either in cmdline or in conf file), it switches console to the "panel native" graphics mode with a minuscule characters. If I load i915 with modeset=0, it doesn't allow intel xorg driver to load.

Try passing 'video=640x480' to the kernel when you have modesetting enabled.

Thanks a lot, that helped!!

Where is the options list for i915 to be found, anyway? There's no man, and no easily findable webpage.
