using Belkin UPS with usb

Has anyone gotten the belkin bulldog upsd program working with usb? Previously I used the serial port but my new motherboard has no serial ports so I would like to get it working with usb. The bulldog software has an area to assign a device for the ups to communicate on but I need to create the device file first. If I cat /proc/bus/usb/devices i can see the ups listed as follows.

T: Bus=04 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=1.5 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=050d ProdID=0910 Rev= 0.06
S: Manufacturer=
S: Product=UPS
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 20mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hid
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=248ms
Anyone ever succesfully get something like this to work? Any ideas?

No I still don't know with what parameters to create the /dev entry.
I don't think it would be too hard for someone who understands the linux internals better than I.
