Using an HP Movie Writer DC5000

I have an HP Movie Writer DC5000 that is an external DVD writer and also a video capture device. I had been trying several Linux distros and with one of them I was able to use this device to capture video. The problem is that I don't remember the program or which distro it was. During testing of distros I tried Ubuntu 7.10, openSUSE 10.3, PCLinuxOS, and Linux Mint 4.0.

Does anyone have this device or know a program that will work with it. I am using Kubuntu 8.04 at the moment, but am not stuck on it. I am looking to use a 64-bit distro if possible. I have searched extensively and found nothing.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Bill
