usb printer


Dear all,

I'm trying to configure a hp usb printer on suse linux 10.1. When i connect the cable i get the following messages on my /var/log/messages can i know what this means. When i run the hp diagnosis to add the printer it says

error: No devices found.
error: Error occured during interactive mode. Exiting.

Sorry, the syslog messages are :

My kernel version is : 2.6.16.13-4-smp


Please help me to get out of hell

You could try this.
Shutdown your system, plug in your printer, ensure it is on and attach the USB cable, and boot up. The printer should then show up in dmesg.
Try adding the printer again.
