The USB floppy drive is a different device then a regular floppy drive. The formatter is only looking for /dev/fd0. For a DOS forrmat use mkdosfs and then specify the device /dev/sdx. Replace x with the actual device letter. See man pages mkdosfs for details. I suspect you will need to specify the floppy parameters like tracks etc. For a linux format use mkfs. I've never tried this myself.

thanks... yeah i got something like the message i got before when i right-clicked on the Floppy folder i mounted on my desktop.. instead of saying "/dev/fd0/" it said "/dev/sd0"... but still the same issue.. couldn't format.. i will borrow the usb floppy drive from my friend so i could try it again.. thanks
