USB DVDRW drive on Fedora Core 4

Just attached an External USB Emprex DVD+-R/RW Writer to my Fedora Core 4 system.
Model: DVDRW 1108UI/UB
Product Details at: http://www.emprex.com/02_products_02.php?id=24

I noticed that at boot time it shows up as /dev/scd0
And the new icon on the desktop says "CD Recorder (scd0)"
So at the command prompt, "eject /dev/scd0" works everytime.

However, it does not automount when the system boots up even
when there is a DVD disc inside.

The /etc/fstab was automatically updated with:
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrecorder auto pamconsole,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

So for some reason it is not being recognized as a DVD+-R/RW Writer.
Should I update this fstab entry?
If yes, what would it be?

Is there anything else I need to do?

(FYI, this DVDRW drive works correctly when I attach it to a Windows PC.)

Change the noauto to auto. It is best not to set the noauto to auto. It can cause issues on some hardware and distros. It may work for you.

Most all CD/DVD whether roms, rw,rams or what ever will most likely be seen as an ISO9660 or UDF in installed format. So generic labeling is good enough.

What distro and gui are you using include version level as well of each? This can help as to what a specfic distro uses to do things. All are not built the same.

Have you tried using dvdrecorder in k3b after setting up k3b? If you have dvd recording tools installed k3b should show make data dvd option and others. If so then fstab is ok. Your fstab entry has 'noauto' after exec, which is pretty common.
Look thru what FC4 programs install includes to get oriented. Good luck.

Ok, the DVD disc is now visible.

So I ran mplayer with:
mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /dev/scd0

- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.

Looks like I am missing some options with mplayer.
But I don't know which.

Ok, I replaced the DVD disc with a new DVD disc LIBERTYS_TURTLE,
copied the new LIBERTYS_TURTLE DVD disc into the /video directory
and ran the following as root.

mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /video/LIBERTYS_TURTLE

Here is the output. My comments are in [] brackets. [-- Like this. --]
