Unable to use GUI interface with RedHat Enterprise WS with Intel 82865g
Attempting to use RedHat Enterprise WS on a HP DC 5000 workstation while in VMWare, however, there is not driver to select during the installation process. I did select a different driver, but of course it doesn't work. PLEASE Help!
Welcome to LQ. What driver are you looking for specifically? If it's the video driver, the Intel site offers a Linux driver however I would guess you would need to install it manually.
Alternatively, what drivers are being shown to you during the installation, which one did you pick, etc? -- J.W.
Pick either vga or svga. This is what VMWare howto saids to do. After installation, boot into runlevel 3. Next you can install VMWare's vga driver for Linux.
Hello, I have exactly the same problem with my computer.
I have a Windows XP host (with graphic card intel 82865g) with VMWare 4.0 and a Linux Redhat 7.1 in guest OS.
If i force the boot on the level 5, after linux boot, the screen switch between logon prompt and a stripped multi-color screen.
Where can i find the vmware'vga driver?
I have downloaded driver for linux on the intel web site under the .rpm and .tar.gz format but nothing run.
