tvtime does not detect tv tuner

good evening everyone:

I am very new to this linux stuff...

I am running mepis 6.0

my vidio card is an ATI 9200....it looks like my card is being
detected but cannot use the tv tuner.

I am trying to run TVTIME; the message I get is

" no such file or directory
cannot open cature device /dev/video0

I also run into this while trying to run xawtv...

how do i correct this problem ??

thanks

Hi

What is the name of the TV Tuner card you are using.
You mention the name of the video adapter in your post. But didn't state the name of the TV Tunder card you are using.

The error messages you are receiving indicate that the TV tuner card is not present in most cases. ie. the hardware is not present.

Hi Bob

Hmmm

I did a couple of google's for ATI 9200 before I posted the last reply.
Didn't see an ATI 9200 with an integrated tuner.
Believe you.

I've installed a number of TV cards myself. But these are dedicated
turner cards like Sprit TV, Pinacle, etc
The deal breaker in your case is that the system doesn't recognise
the presence of TV tuner card.

I'll keep my ear to the ground for you.
But I'm not sure what to suggest.

Try "lspci" and see if your tuner is listed.

You probably need to install the correct drivers. See www.v4l.org for more info.
