Trying to get an Epsom LX 400 dot matrix printer to work

Hi,
I have a parallel port Epsom LX 400 dot matrix printer.
In the printer proprieties menu it says for make and model
Epson 9-Pin Series which it what it is.
It's ok when I print directly to the port.
cat file >/dev/lp0

Using Mandriva 2010

I think you can set that to quite a number of other emulations. Be sure your printer is on what you think is is on. I think it was press two keys and power up for menu or something like that.

System >Administration> Printing
Then click on printer.
Under Make and Model click on change
Then go through the menus Generic > IBM compatible Dot Matrix. It's right at the top.
