Do you get any interesting messages from /var/log/messages
when you try to load the card? You can do a:
Code:
tail -f /var/log/messages
in one terminal (or virtual console) while you load the card. If
anything interesting happens, you'll get messages out. . Post
those.

I'm still trying to work out why it works on your desktop with linux
and not on your laptop. . .

Here are some other links. Apparently the card is sensitive to the
voltage across it. You might have to hack some code. . . This
would be in the orinoco_cs.c file, I believe.

I have the same problem on my armada 7800. I have not tried every thing in this post but i have tried alot of it and had no luck at all. I am some what of a newb but i am getting the feeling that its something to armadas in general. Has any one out there had any luck with this. I will contenue to follow this post.

Here are my specs:
Slackware 9
Armada 7800
Proxim orinoco model:8421-WD

Armada's, and Compaq's in general, run on a lot of ACPI, but I'm willing to bet that its a monkeyed up Proxim card. That's not really an Orinoco card any longer and they seem to have done odd things to the firmware that break its ability to work with orinoco_cs normally. What's the listing right off of the card?

/sbin/cardctl ident
