Trouble installing PCMCIA card

I am trying to install an IBM EtherJet PCMCIA card in my IBM ThinkPad 600x using Slackware 8.1. I recompiled my kernel with PCMCIA support and the driver it's supposed to use, and compiled pcmcia-cs 3.2.4, and the rc.pcmcia file seems to start the cardmgr fine, but I'm confused as to how to get Slackware to recognize the card. Anything I try with cardctl tells me there's no product information available. How can I get this card to be recognized?

Nobody? I've been searching and searching and nothing I try works. I really don't wanna install Windows 2000 on this, as I like Linux a whole lot better, but I'm gonna have to if I can't get this working. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having the same problem.
But redhat was working fine.

So if I can not make it work, at least I will back to Redhat,
not to Windows 2000
