TrippLite UPS Monitoring Setup

I am having trouble getting monitoring to work on my OpenSuse 11.1 x64 system (KDE 4.2 Desktop). The UPS is a Tripp Lite Model G1000u (similar to a Omni900LCD series from what I've learned.) I have the Network UPS Tools (nut) packages installed, and the UPS shows up in dmesg & lsusb, but I still can't get the system to talk to it. Starting the service just gives a failure with no log entries. (Monitoring works in Win XP, so the hardware is good.)

I've tried Google and some searches here, but can't find much.

Here's what the system is seeing so far:

Code:
linux-lsfs:/home/bruces # lsusb

Wanted to add the reply I'm getting when running upsd program from the nut package after configuring:

Code:
linux-lsfs:/home/bruces # upsd -D
Network UPS Tools upsd 2.2.2
listening on 0.0.0.0 port 3493
Can't connect to UPS [myups] (usbhid-ups-myups): No such file or directory
^CSignal 2: exiting
Driver should access the ups on localhost, but it hangs instead, even though 127.0.0.1 is in the config file. I let it sit for about 10 minutes before hitting ctrl-c to kill it.

Still having the same issues, and have tried everything: docs, google, man pages, etc. Anyone else have any ideas?
