Unhappy Toshiba Software Modem AMR

I have a dual boot machine with Windows XP and Red Hat 9.0 (shrike) on the machine. Everything works fine on both OS's but the modem. Windows XP is fine, but Linux will not register that it is there.

Now, I am a so I would appreciate a walkthrough if there is one that is easy to follow and I mean Real easy to follow, giving me what to do exactly.

Thanks for your help ahead of time

Hi. I have a Toshiba Software Modem AMR also. From what I can gather from reading online, it may be based on lucent scorpio chip. On the www.linmodems.org page it says that AMR modems are not supported. This isn't true though it seems, as doing a google search 'Toshiba Software Modem AMR Linux', shows some people who have gotten theirs to work. I did try an AMR driver recently but it didnt seem to work.

At the moment I'm using an external 33.6k modem seeing as I've not gotten the internal one working yet =(. But reading this thread has gotten me thinking about having a look to see if i can get it to work again. Let me know if you make any progress =D.

Laters.

Karryn.
