ThinkPad600X-26458EU-Debian3r4-NetInstall

I'm trying to netinstall Debian3.0r4(Sarge) onto a Pentium III laptop (ThinkPad 600X) that has a Xircom RealPort 2 Ethernet Card (R2E-100).

It recognizes the Xircom card, and is able to access the Internet (DHCP). During the FTP process, I can successful download 20%-50% of the necessary packages when the card just stops working. I ping the laptop from my desktop and it loses the network connection completely.

One thing I notice is that APM cause my screen to shut off after awhile. I wonder if it is shutting down the cardbus and but bringing it back up?

Any help is appreciated.

.:. I also tried rc2 and the same issue.

Tail your syslog. Chances are you have are getting tx ring timeouts with the network driver.

Håkan,

I have already low-level formatted the hd... I will try the netinstall again, but I was hoping for a quick solution to this... when I setup my PCMCIA nic during the install, it asks me if I want to modify the settings. Is there something I can add to the eth0 settings?

Thanks again for your time.

It depends on what the error is. It may be a TX ring timeout (it has all the usual signs) and those are hard to fix - changing to another net driver could fix it. Check the log for any error messages.
