I want to buy a network MFP (monochrome laser, color scanning) that will send scanned documents to an SMB or FTP share and print from any of my Linux boxes, including a Raspberry Pi (which is the one serving the SMB share).
So I've found the Xerox B225
https://www.xerox.de/de-de/office-pr...nction-printer
in my price range (well under 300€, possibly even under 250)
1. Its official specs say no Linux support, but on the other hand you can find a generic Linux driver for download directly from Xerox.
2. Recently I read somewhere that Linux can use any printer that supports the IPP protocol (is that true?).
3. It's always super hard to find out what supported scan targets are, in this case some documentation mentions FTP, some just says "scan to network".
In a review on Amazon, a user reports it can scan to SMB, which isn't mentioned anywhere else.
Would you buy? How much would you trust that driver and network scan to work? I'd really want it to be a one-button process: Just scan on the MFP, no need to interact with software on the PC.
Printing on Linux has ever so often been a sore spot in my user experience, a lot of hit and miss...
