SUSE 9.2 eth0 "Waiting for mandatory devices..." DHCP problems

Hi all.

I have a server with SUSE 9.2 that I have setup and configured at home, where I have ADSL from an ISP that assigns clients' IPs via DHCP. All works perfectly@home.

Today I moved the server to the place where it is supposed to function, and this place has internet access from the same provider, only via fiber instead of ADSL. Addresses there are also assigned via DHCP.

When I try booting the server at the new location, I first get a message saying that the network card eth0 hasn't recieved an IP via DHCP ("no DHCP yet, backgrounding"). After that I get "Waiting for mandatory device to appear ... 12 11 10 9 8" etc etc. (its referring to eth0) and then "Interface could not be set up"

I then took the server back home where it booted correctly without any problems, even though I got the message "no DHCP yet, backgrounding". But it found eth0 and I accessed the internet w/o problems.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Server specs: SUSE 9.2 with onboard ethernet device.

Greatful for help as always :/

/Ozric

edit: Ony one NIC on the system, and the system is connected to an UPS at the location where it doesn't funcion, however, only by power and no software is used for the UPS.

Problem turned out to be a damaged cat5 cable, or infact two damaged cat5 cables.
