I recently successfully configured an r300 on Debian , using the gimpprint 5.0alpha3 drivers. I'm not too sure how much this has in common with the r200 but it's worth a shot. http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/

I looked through my gimp-print drivers and there is one there for the epson r200

First you need to uncompress it "bunzip2 gimp-print-5.0.0-beta.tar.bz2"
Then extract the tar archive "tar -xf gimp-print-5.0.0-beta.tar"
Change to the directory it created "cd gimp-print-5.0.0-beta"
Configure "./configure"
make "make"
make install "make install"
The drivers will be put in /usr/share/cups/model/gimp-print/5.0/C/
You can install the drivers through whatever desktop environment you use, for KDE3 the printing manage is called printer settings, or you can install it via command line "/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p Epson_R200 -E -v usb:/dev/usb/lp0 -m stp-escp2-r200.5.0.ppd.gz"
