Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Suse 10.3 USB midi interface recognised but not working

Hello All,
Not sure why but this message didn't post correctly, so I will edit it.

After finially getting all the hardware needed (a half decent pc, midi piano and a cable to connect them both) I thought I was on my way to fulfilling a dream... wrong.

The USB cable (a U2MIDI) works fine in wondozeoff but who wants that? I can get it recognized by linux as the following shows:

lsusb
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 1346:2001 <<< this is it here
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 045e:001e Microsoft Corp. IntelliMouse Explorer

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

3 'TiMidity port 3 '

I have set Rosegarden up with the U2MIDI device on each of the provided settings (one at a time) and fail to get sound to or from the piano.

As mentioned above, the device works fine in (shudder) windozeoff and it looks like it wants to work in linux but obviously i'm missing something somewhere along the lines.

Also, pmidi -p20:0 midifile.mid fails to send data to it aswell.

I have read somewhere that the 2.6.22 kernel is not talking to low speed usb devices, can someone confirm/deny this?

Anyone with any ideas as to what I can try will be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Homer.
