stuttering dvd playback
Hi all,
I have a problem with playing dvd's.
They stutter. I already know the cause (I think) but still need a fix.
I use an IBM ThinkPad A31p on which I have installed Suse 8.1
It has a combo DVD/CD-RW drive which is installed on dev/sr0.
In my menu.lst file (grub) i have the following things that relate to the drive:
hdc=ide-scsi
max_scsi_luns=1
Now, I read that for playing back dvd's I should not use the scsi emulation, but for burning I do.
All mounts of /dev/cdrecorder, /dev/cdrom & /dev/dvd link to /dev/sr0.
I've tried linking dvd to hdc, but that doesn't work: xine or mplayer won't see the drive.
So, how do I point the /dev/dvd & the /dev/cdrom to the ide device without scsi emulation and leave the /dev/cdrecorder on sr0?
Has anybody got a clue?
Thnx in advance,
T
