SSD Sata dmesg dump. What is this dump telling me?

I have a OCZ Vertex Sata drive installed on a Gigabye GA-E7AUM-DS2h Motherboard. I am running from the ubuntu 8.10 live CD. The SSD drive is plugged into the SATA 0 socket. The dmesg dump related to this drive can be found here.

Any advice with this is greatly appreciated. Ideally I would like to install Ubuntu to the SSD drive. Is it that the SATA controller on the motherboard is not playing nice with this drive for some reason.

What are these error messages telling me? Where can I get more information on these errors?

It's obvious that Ubuntu interacts with the SSD well enough until it gets to the 7.00nnn series messages. At that point Ubuntu cannot get a valid 'device ready' signal from the drive. It tries several times without success.

You could try looking at the motherboard settings. Have you overclocked any of the motherboard timings? If so try putting the motherboard settings back to their default values.

If I were you I would try a different live CD distribution or an earlier version of Ubuntu, such as v8.04. If you look through this web site you will see many complaints about Ubuntu 8.10 hardware problems.
