speedtouch usb modules unloaded

Hi,
I'm having problems with my speedtouch modem (NOT 330 model) and Mandrake 9.2. When first botted the connection runs fine but after some time (can be 10 minutes or a few days) the connection to the modem is lost and I have multiple instances of pppoa3 started by pppd call adsl.

From looking at the messages log it appears that there is a problem with either the usb driver or the hotpluging (although the modem is never unplugged). The usb vendor / product number for the modem is:
Vendor ID 0x6b9 (Alcatel Telecom)
Product ID 0x4061 (Speed Touch ISDN)

However in the log it states that there is no modules for this product and that it is not claimed by an active driver.
This would appear to be incorrect as the modem works when the system is first booted as this query is being sent using the speedtouch modem.

Does anyone have any ideas about this ?

This is the mesage log when the unloading/disabling has heppened
