Redhat 9
Realtek AC'97 Audio

When I go on System Settings, Soundcard Detection, I can get audio from my cdrom drive and beeps but i can't play audio files on the computer nor does the Soundcard Detection play the sound but after i click on it i get ALC_650 in Volume Control and a hiss when you turn the volume up on pcm. Anyone wih help on getting the sound to fully work?

What's the actual soundcard from the list on:

/sbin/lspci

Or, alternatively... do you know what module RH loaded for the card?

On audio devices where you play the test sound the modules is: i810_audio.

Hello,

I have the same problem as you have. I have the same soundcard (Realtec AC '97 Audio) and mine also doesn't work. I also tryed to trow the packets away and then activate it again, but it still doesn't work. Where you abel to fix the problem yet?? Could you pleas let me know.

Every seince i changed my graphics card from an nVIDIA to an ATi it seams to be working fine. Try changing the IRQ numbers?
