Sony Handycam HC19E problems connecting to Ubuntu

Hi

Just bought the above camcorder, I guess i should have checked compatability. Anyway, how do I get Ubuntu Breezy to recognise it? and what's the best software package to use for home video level stuff?

Check out kino. Is there a cable to connect to usb.

I've tried Kino, doesn't pick it up. It's not picked up in file manager either. Ubuntu just doesn't see it.

I've plugged it in through the usb port.

Can you use other usb devices? I assume that ubuntu uses a kernel with usb support. Check to see if your camcorder is seen by lsusb.

That's the funny thing, my printer is usb as is my digital camera, no probs with either.
Must be a Sony thing!
