Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

slack 10 - moved cdrom - not detected

Hello all, I took out a hard drive and did some rearranging of the devices onto just one IDE cable:

my hard drive remained in the same place (primary master - /dev/hda1 in linux),
no problems with that, but my cd rw was moved from secondary master to primary slave
(it was at /dev/cdrom in linux)
is there a way to detect this cd rw and make it the new /dev/cdrom?
#
##### EDIT ####
# I discovered the cd rw is actually living at /dev/hdb now
#This is good, I can use the drive , but I would still like to know
#if it is possible to turn /dev/hdb into /dev/cdrom

ln -sf /dev/hdb /dev/cdrom
/dev/cdrom is a symlink (lets say a shortcut in windoze word).

half_elf thank you, having a look in the man pages of ln, this looks like something really simple.
Ahhh windoze world, the world I'm trying so hard to forget
