Sis 7018 onboard soundcard problem, works in RH9 but not in MDK9.1

NU-B question

Well I have looked for a few days now and cant seem to find anyone with the same problem so now have decided to post a message.......

I have had the sound card (Sis 7018 onboard a Sis chipset 630 athlon Mainboard) working from install on Redhat 9 but I cant seem to get it working in Mandrake 9.1....obviously they use different drivers or perhaps different flavours of the same driver...either way It doesnt like MDK....yes the easiest solution would be to get a card already supported but then I would have no reason to go bald hehehehehe.....

All Im asking is if anyone has had the same problem and how they overcame it.

I could reinstall RH to see what driver it uses but I dont really want to go through it all again I like MDK it works well for me as far as support for my USB devices go which at this stage are more important.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.
Cheers

Ok Well how dumb do I feel and tftanaka let me just say this one thing...........

DOH

for some reason mandrake decides to put everything on mute in the KMix program .....go into there and unmute every thing and it all works just fine

why it would place everything on mute is beyond me...I did not think to even check it.......and heres me a techo for 18 years in windblowz tho not Linux so i will just have to beg off of that as my excuse hehehehehe.

anyway is there a reason for the soundcard to be place in mute by default?

Cheers again
Wayne
