setserial command

Hello! I have RH9. I'm getting " LRS safety check engaged", followed by" trying to force nonexistant source", when I use setserial. Anyone know what this means? I get this when I attempt to configure ttyS2. Thanx-

This is probably a silly question, but do you have a ttyS2?
ttyS0 and ttyS1 are the usual serial ports if nothing has been added.
I am guessing you already know you have a ttyS2, but...
