Serial Modem Problems
Hey Folks,
Have a comp use 56k serial modem
plugged into the serial port.
I've run setserial -avg /dev/ttyS*
and two ports show up confiruged
for 16550A i.e. serial ports,
but xwindows can't find a modem
when it probes, and when I install
a generic modem and run it on
ttyS0 or 1 (both are assigned to
the serial ports) the modem doesn't
do anything. Additionally I've run
wvdialconf and it finds no modem
and also echo "atdt 555 2224" /dev/ttyS0 etc.
doesn't work. Does anyone know
how to get linux to see my serial modem?
Additionally setserial shows UART unknown
for all the PCI ports (there's no cards in
them) and I have a USR modem in that
older port they made before PCI ports.
What is that port called?
Any help would be appreciated,
the linmodems list doesn't seem
to help and the scanmodem script
doesn't find a modem either,
using redhat 8.0
