Serial ATA & Mandrake

Does Mandrake Linux 10.0 Official (Kernel v. 2.6.3-7mdk) support Serial ATA
hard drives, or just uses it like an ordinary ATA device?

I am having problems installing Linspire. It doesn't recognize my SATA hardrive. I installed SUSE before and that worked fine. Is there a way I can make the Linspire installation detect my hardrive?
