SATA problems on nforce3 boards

i have read hundreds of posts from people having trouble finding their SATA drives on nforce3 boards. well i tried gentoo 2004.3 which boots kernel 269 and yeah it doesnot work. apparently something works in the 267 kernel but not in 269. all you need to do is pop in a disk which boots 267 and

#modprobe ide-disk

have fun
