SATA and IDE in the same system.

If I put SATA and IDE drives in the same system, what is the typical boot order? I have all IDE drives, but two open SATA ports that I could put two more drives in my system. If I plug in a SATA drive will it foul up booting from IDE or will it just be another drive to access?

Thanks.

I have set up a system with one SATA and one IDE hard drives. The SATA one was new while the IDE had already installed Windows 98 and the system booted from the IDE. Then I removed the cable from IDE to install the news OS on the SATA drive and after that I reconnected the IDE drive and the system was booting from the SATA drive. As it seems it was searching the OS to boot from SATA but it couldn't find anything and then searched on IDE. I'm not sure, but I think that you can set from which drive to boot on BIOS, or not? The best way is to try it

It's all in the BIOS. I love my mobo, first time I turned it on during POST it asked me to enter setup and manually create a boot order, didn't assume anything and I was mega-impressed off the mark.
