I was just about to order a 19" Samsung SM913N monitor when I noticed a review saying that the provided software was not compatible with OSX.

Is the provided software required to operate the monitor? I had assumed that drivers are not required for monitors and that choosing a monitor when setting up your display just defaulted in known values for resolution, refresh rate etc.

I have googled to find any other Linux users that are running the SM913N but found none. Is there anyone out there using this monitor? Can I buy it without worry?

I am running Mandrake 2005 with a Radeon 9000 Pro card.

it's just a windows thing, so windows users don't have to (horrors) input their sync frequencys by hand.
