Running Huawei E3531 for sending sms from bash


Hello,

i need to start using Huawei 3G Modem E3531 to send sms via bash.
But problem for me as i can't switch mode to see connected device in /dev/ttyUSB0. I found some articles how to switch the device but without succes. I desperately need a help.

Under the manual when i used the command

It looks like you have similar problem I've got with Huawei E3331s-2.

My modem also uses the pair 12d1:1f01 as initial vendorID : product ID and using modeswitch I've got problem.

It turned out that some new modems (seen as CD drives rather than HD drives) can be switched in dual way:

1. the "old way" when it can be used as serial device (which I needed)

2. the "new way" when after switching it should be used as ethernet device

Some investigation allowed me to replace the init string included in modeswitch database with another one which was:
"55534243000000000000000000000611060000000000000000000000000000"
and get the "old-way" behavior.

So first try to use my init string and if it fail try to google for string suitable for your device.
