RHFC4 SELinux & Plextor PX-716UF
Hello! This is my first thread in this community and I thank you for taking the time to read. I use Red Hat Fedora CORE 4 SELinux. I recently purchased a LG GSA-5163D external double layer CD / DVD burner. It was not fully compatible with my OS because the unofficially modified version of CDRecord and the Linux kernel 2.6.12-1394_FC4 is not helping with compatibility either. So, I am looking to purchase another external CD / DVD burner. I use a 3 year old Toshiba Satellite 1405-S171 notebook PC with 1.5GHz Celeron and 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM (Rosewill) with a 27.5GB native 4200 RPM HDD. So, I need an external burner to make copies of Red Book CDs, very few data CDs, and DVD-Videos. I currently own the Plextor PX-4824TU and PX-708UF. BOTH work just fine. So, I kind of am leaning toward the new PX-716UF.
Does anyone here use the Plextor PX-716UF? How about with RHFC4 SELinux or other Linux distributions? Any comments on complete compatibility?
I am wary of using NEROLinux because one of the reasons why I switched over to Linux was to get away from that Windows world: registration, commercial software, not open source, not free software, etc.
Please reply if you can. Thank you very much!
