alsa
Also, I just tried the alsa-projects software and it's not working either.
here's my /etc/modules.conf > (which I got from another thread)
# ALSA portion
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-via8233
# module options should go here
# OSS/Free portion
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
# card #1
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
anyway I'm not sure what OSS is, is it something I need to install? The only thing that has changed so far is instead of getting the message
"/dev/dsp could not be initialized, using null instead" or whatnot, I get
"device /dev/dsp can't be opened (no such device)"
I did soemthign the other day that got me to "i/o conflict" or something. I thought that is probably the closes I've gotten. Being the noob, I have no idea.
