Removing a hard drive partition
Need help. My new/used HP Compaq Dc7800 which has a 320 GB Maxtor hard drive runs great with a new Salix install. But the Disk Manager app keeps telling me that I have an unknown filesystem type on the HD. I go into the Disk Manager app to clear the unknown filesystem and Disk Manager will not remove the partition. The filesystem type is identified as "ddf_raid_member". This machine came out of a corporate environment. Would HP create a small partition on this machine to load specific instructions ? Maybe a true raid with what ? I would like to clear this filesystem and add the additional space (1.3 GB) to my Linux portion of the HD. I only know enough about fdisk to be dangerous. Any suggestions ? Not a "show stopper" but a daily inconvenience.
