Remote control conflicts with keyboard kecodes

Hello

Maybe you have guessed by reading the topic my remote control conflicts with my keyboard kecodes. For example if i press play xev tells me i have pressed Left ctrl + p.
I want to use the remote but i don't want to overide ctrl p that has it's uses in several programs, (in mozilla it opens the print dialog). So i wounder if i can maybe raise the keycode number so that it dont conflicts with my keyboard, or somehow tell xmodmap to read different inputs.

I hope that my question is understandeble, my spelling sucks and I'm haveing problem to put my question in to text.

Thanks for answers

If xev can't tell the difference between the keyboard and the remote it seems likely that xmodmap can't either.

Are they both USB devices? Maybe the problem could be sorted out in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf configuration file, where the input devices are specified.

A possible problem with multiple USB devices is that assignment of device names can change on reboot, so maybe X11 is set to accept input from all possible devices.

I don't have a USB keyboard so I'm not sure how they are handled by X11.

I have a laptop and the keyboard is the one that is attached to the rest of the computer. So i don't think its attached via usb.
The remote is a usb device.

Still worth checking the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to see how it assigns input devices. I have PS/2 keyboard and mouse here, so no mention of any USB devices in xorg.conf.

What does command 'cat /proc/bus/usb/devices' say about the remote? You need to find out why events from the remote are being delivered to the X server.

Also what distribution are you using?

My xorg.conf don't say anything about the remote, can i add something maybe a rule so that it handels the events diffrently?

This is my cat /proc/bus/usb/devices output and i don't know what to make of it.
The Fingerprint reader is integrated.

In the xorg.conf file there should be a section about the keyboard like this:
Code:
Section "InputDevice"

    Identifier	"Keyboard1"
    Driver	"kbd"
Is that the only keyboard and driver you have in there?

Most likely the remote is identified as a plug-in keyboard and is being multiplexed with the built-in one.

Another thing to look at - check the BIOS settings for anything relevant to keyboards, and try changing the options. There may be something in there for attaching an external keyboard that you can turn off.
