Redhat ES 3.0 won't see autoloader

We have a new HP ML370 with a HP 1/8 autoloader attached. I have installed Redhat ES 3.0 and i can see the autoloader and Ultrium 230 when running dmesg and i have installed HP tape tools and that can also see the autoloader and tape drive.

But when i try to use the /dev/rmt devices that are present it just says "no such device"

Any ideas?

Thanks

Daz
