Recommend scanner with b/w printer - printer use < 1 page per month

Occasionally I need to scan entire books, or excerpts from.
Very occasionally I need to print (less than one page per month). Threw my old printer away because every time I went to use it I had to spend an hour or more cleaning the heads. Now I spend an hour or more trekking into town to use the library's printer. Just for those mossback outfits that are still pining for their quill pens.

Can anyone recommend a scanner with b/w printer good for this kind of use. My system is Slackware 13.1

I use an HP Laserjet multifunction printer. Laser printers are much cheaper to run a don't seem to mind standing around for a bit. My 'old' inkjet had the same OCD on the head cleaning thing. I think I used more ink on head cleaning than anything else!
