Question Radeon 7500 Breaks Redhat

My friend has a Radeon 7500 PCI that he's trying to get working in RedHat 9.0 (just installed). Once all the settings are in place for it, and we try to start X, the computer just crashes. The power stays on, but the screen is blank and it won't reboot with ctrl-alt-del.

He has an eMachines with an onboard video card, but that's disabled in the bios. Knoppix seems to be okay with the video card, and I even tried cutting the card section out of Knoppix's XF86Config file and pasting it in to RedHat's (again crasing the computer). I know the Radeon 7500 shoul work in RedHat 9.0.

I've tried setting the BusID (how do you get the "PCI:1:0:0" info out of lspci?!?) but it just says there's no device found at PCI:1:11:0. Hell the BusID it lists ins't even the one in the config file.

Has anyone got a 7500 working in RedHat?

Thanks guys.

i have the same problem...

on the monitor, does the light turn orangish-yellow? (like as if the computer were in standby mode)?

i've been told it's not finding my video card, and therefor returning a no signal / video cable plugged in message if you turn the monitor off and back on again, i'm going to test it now, but thats my problem at the moment, please help!!!!!! if you can help, email guppy_@msn.com please
