When I changed my monitor to Samsung 172T LCD, I encountered some problems with using the DVI-I connection.
First of all, I removed old CRT cable so that XFree doesn't use it.
When I run XFree (4.3), the display goes blank. Then, I use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to stop X and go to console. The display is still blank. I run X again and the display comes back - I can use X-window. I came into the conclusion that the display goes blank every second time I run X.
Why does it happen? I use ATI Radeon 9200 128MB VIVO card (made by HIS). I use the drivers included with XFree. Problem depends on X configuration. I'm not sure, but I think I have to disable AGP, because otherwise the display goes blank forever (till reboot).
Is it fixed in XFree 4.4?
Maybe this problem is connected with hardware? Monitor or graphics card?
Have anybody had similar problems with other configurations?
By the way, I can't make my Radeon work with the linux framebuffer. Neither vesa nor radeon driver.
